Notes:
The FAA Commercial / Instrument certificate are not required for this emphasis.
Students planning a career with an airline should include AES 4120
(Air Carrier Systems) and AES 4130 (Flight Officer Duties &
Responsibilities) among their AES electives.
Aviation courses from accredited college aviation
programs may be substituted for AES electives with AES department approval.
Through an agreement with Jeppesen, up
to 12 sh can be issued upon successful completion of their Dispatcher
class and issuance of the Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate.
Flight Courses cannot be used as electives.
Students entering the department already
possessing FAA Certificates after consultation with an advisor may substitute
other AES courses for those courses associated with the FAA Certificates. For
instance, consider a student already possessing a Commercial/instrument license:
He would meet with an advisor to select 12
semester hours worth of AES courses that would substitute for the required
courses, AES 1100 & 1800. Neither would he need to take the simulator courses associated with
those ratings, i.e. AES1710 & 2710. This requires 6 more credit hours of AES
courses to make substitution for.
