Scholarships For Aerospace Science Majors
(dollar amounts and availability are subject to change)

Jay Glenn Brown Endowed Scholarship - MS Word Application Form 
Award: The fund was established in 1986 to honor a distinguished associate professor of aerospace science, by his widow, Ena Brown. One scholarship of approximately $700 is awarded annually.

Eligibility: Applicants must have a declared major in Aerospace Science Department. No other criteria.

Loyal H. (Larry) Diehl Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Award: The fund was established in 1994 by his peers to honor a respected United Airlines captain. One award of approximately $500 is made annually.

Eligibility: Applicants must be entering first-year students, full-time, show financial need, and have a declared major in aviation technology and minor in professional pilot.

Kenneth Englund Endowed Memorial Scholarship - MS Word Application Form
Award: The scholarship was established in 1980 to honor a student of aerospace science at Metro. One scholarship of approximately $500 is awarded annually.

Eligibility: Applicants must have a declared major in the Aerospace Science Department for three semesters and be an active member of Alpha Eta Rho fraternity for two semesters.

E.B. Jeppesen Endowed Memorial Scholarship - MS Word Application Form
Award: The scholarship was endowed by employees of the Jeppesen Sanderson Company, a division of the Times Mirror Company, to honor its founder who died in 1996. One scholarship of approximately $1,750 is awarded annually.

Eligibility: Applicants must be full-time students with financial need, and have a declared major in aviation management or aviation technology, with a 3.0 GPA in the major and overall. Preference may be given to minority and female applicants.

Grace Pitkin Birge Mayfield Aviator Endowed Memorial Scholarship - MS Word Application Form
Award: The fund was established in 1994 by Mrs. Mayfield's children to honor her as a pioneer female aviator. One scholarship of approximately $500 is awarded annually.

Eligibility: Applicants must have a declared major in the Aerospace Science Department, be full-time students, have a 2.5 GPA, hold an FAA private pilot's certificate, and submit a 500-word essay.

Ernie Raff Endowed Memorial Scholarship - MS Word Application Form
Award: The scholarship was established in 1982 by Albert and Eileen Raff to honor their son, a 1980 MSCD graduate. Three scholarships of  approximately $1,500 are awarded annually.

Eligibility: Applicants must be an aerospace science major and an upper-class student who has exhibited the greatest practical aptitude and enthusiasm for flying.

George R. Wiser Memorial Scholarship
Award: The fund was established by Cherie Krasovich, an aerospace science alumnus, in honor of her father. One scholarship of approximately $940 will be awarded.

Eligibility: Applicants must have a declared major in the Aerospace Science Department, with a 2.7 GPA, show community involvement, and submit an essay.

Other Scholarships 

*Colorado Scholars
$500.00 per semester.Criteria:9 hrs AES prefix courses completed; min 3.0 GPA; full-time enrollment (12 hrs) fall semester and this semester.

The Dean of Professional Studies also has an allocation of money under this program that requires a separate application. You may only get one scholarship under this program.

Notes:
*Normally approximately 15 primary and 15 alternate selections. Alternates are funded if extra money is available or a primary recipient declines for some reason.

Exact amounts are to be determined, based on available funds in endowment accounts.

All Scholarships available through the Department of Aerospace Science require an application. Applications are normally due during the first week of March. Check with the Department for specific application deadlines.

Some scholarships may be available for incoming freshmen and transfer Students. Consult the college's web page under admissions and/or call the Admissions office at (303) 556-3058 to see if you might qualify. MSCD General Scholarship Information.

Scholarship funds are credited to students' MSCD accounts at beginning of fall semester. Only currently enrolled (spring semester) MSCD students who expect to be enrolled again in the fall are eligible to apply for the above scholarships. The only exception to this rule is the DIEHL scholarship (high school seniors).

In addition, there are numerous scholarships available to declared / enrolled AES majors from the University Aviation Associated Member Institutions. Check the Aerospace Science Department for information regarding these scholarships.
