Aviation and Aerospace Science Department Policies
Please fill out Declaration of Major form, available in the
Aviation and Aerospace Science Office and in Central Advising, and on it indicate your major. With help from staff members, choose an advisor.
A meeting with your advisor within the first four weeks of each semester is mandatory!
Your advisor (any
full time faculty) will be available to assist you throughout your college career. Become acquainted with the faculty and staff and do not hesitate to ask questions or seek guidance should problems arise.
Transfer students should consult with an advisor
as soon as possible after enrolling to obtain assistance in course selection.
Certain FAA certificates and ratings are required for the completion of
Aviation Technology (ATV) degrees and minors. The flight certificates and ratings required for the Aviation Technology programs are listed under the ATV4 and ATV5 majors
and ATV or PRP minors. You may receive transfer college credit for
flight courses (AES 1500, 2500, 3520, etc.) if taken from accredited college aviation program.
Otherwise, flight training may be completed independently, or the student may
sign up and take these flight courses concurrently with flight training with a
local flight school for the purpose of obtaining additional financial aid. Consult your advisor on the best option for you.
You may receive
25 semester hours credit for an A&P
certificate by completing the appropriate forms available on the web. |

The
MSCD catalog in effect since your initial enrollment may be used,
provided enrollment is not interrupted by an absence of three
consecutive semesters, summers included. A multicultural course is
required, which can be fulfilled concurrently with general studies
requirements. Our
Department Handbook is available for
download on this web site with the most current information. If your major is in Aviation and Aerospace Science you must receive at least a grade of "C" in all AES
upper division program courses; also a course in which you earn an "F"
does not count toward graduation.
Obtain a
CAPP report form before consultation
with your advisor in the Aviation and Aerospace Office and plan your program in consultation with an advisor. The
CAPP report may be modified only after approval of your advisor and submission
of a letter to the the faculty student issues committee.
We aim to assist you in reaching your goals in aerospace, and are happy to have you as a student in the department. Many items of interest are posted on the AES bulletin board, including job opportunities, internships, personal messages and general information. CHECK IT OFTEN!!
We are very proud of the Auraria Campus, and think that you, too, will be pleased with the facility. Your college experience will be enriched when you become involved in campus activities.
