Student Issues Committee
Any changes to the AES course requirements in the
listed degree programs available in our
department must be approved by the Student Issues Committee. *Remember that if
the changes are related to a minor in another department, you must work with
that minor department.
*Changes in General Studies requirements involving courses not listed in the
MSCD General Studies Course List also cannot be resolved within our department.
*The information on CAPP reports through METROCONNECT is not the official CAPP
report and may have errors.
Please use the following procedures:
- Secure a current copy of your Official CAPP Report
- Secure a copy of the course description for the course you wish to
substitute into our degree program - provide online reference for
verification - a course outline would also be helpful.
- Meet with your advisor concerning the substitution(s) you wish to
make and the reasons for such substitutions. Remember that if you wish
to substitute another class for one which is available in our AES
department, that course must cover at least the material discussed in
our class. Fill out the proposed adjustment on the CAPP Adjustment
Form with your advisor.
- Download our Student Issues
Form
- Fill out the form completely and state your request and reasoning
that the proposed substitution should be considered valid by the
committee. Be sure to express yourself clearly and concisely.
Attach a copy of your current Official CAPP report, CAPP Adjustment Form, and course description
comparison along with any other relevant information you believe will support
your case.
- Turn in all this information to your advisor for submission to the
committee.
- The committee will consider your request in a timely manner and
e-mail you with the results. (be advised that all committee members may
not be on contract through the summer semester and determination may
take much longer).
- If the committee approves the request, the CAPP
Adjustment Form will be sent to the college so that the change will
become part of your new Official CAPP Report..
This process is not to be used as a means to substitute in courses that a
student is concurrently taking online through another college. Also, this not a
procedure to substitute courses at the last minute in order facilitate
graduation in a certain semester. The student is responsible according to
department policy to meet with his advisor each semester and
properly plan each successive semester to stay on track.
